Presented by Panavision NZ, in association with the NZCS, Behind The Lens is a day of hands-on practical workshops in which screen practitioners will gain a greater understanding of how camera lenses and technology influence visual storytelling.
Led by Panavision Australia’s Nic Godoy, the workshops will include ‘live’ on-set demonstrations using Panavision cameras and an array of vintage and modern lenses. Delivered in two parts, the program is developed with the nuances, challenges, and specific requirements of creative and technical roles in mind.
The morning is for practitioners working in creative roles (Directors, Producers, etc) and will include demystifying lenses and the lens testing process, and how to use terminology for effective communication between Directors and Cinematographers.
The afternoon is for practitioners working in advanced technical roles (Cinematographers, AC’s, post-production, etc) and will include a showcase and technical breakdown of motion picture lens characteristics of Spherical, Anamorphic, Large Format and S35 lenses, including the evolving advancement of lens modification and customisation.
All attendees of both sessions will receive a free online technical reference library.
We encourage all participants to attend the networking lunch.
