A lot of film students learn the hard way that more often or not you don’t just become a professional director of photography overnight —like most careers, you have to work your way up the ladder.
In a casual show-and-tell format, Ray Edwards, will share his inspiring path from assistant camera to director of photography and NZCS 'Emerging Cinematographer of the Year 2022'.
Growing up in the Bay of Plenty, around the marae and his Māori culture, Edwards is a fluent speaker of te reo and an active member of his community. He will talk about some of the projects he's been working on, such as 'We Are Still Here' and 'Cousins', that align with his values and culture which are at the forefront of his mind.
Refreshments and nibbles provided from 6:30 PM, with the presentation kicking off promptly at 7:00 PM.
Evenings like this bring insights that you can't get anywhere else.
