To help celebrate Geoff's life and film making we are very fortunate to have our only honorary member Graeme Cowley (who was the Cinematographer for Utu) give us a private screening. Graeme will share with us details about the making and the restoration of this now historic NZ film.
Most of us will have known Geoff Murphy from some time in our careers. From early days of Blerta and Wildman, then Goodbye Pork Pie from 1979, Utu, Quiet Earth & Never Say Die from the 80s, a number of US movies during the 90s such as Freejack & and Young Guns 2, then more recently as 2nd unit director for Lord of the Rings. He was a musician, father to the fabulous Murphy kids, and a lover of fast action movies and comedy. Geoff died in early December last year at the fine age of 80.
The screening will be held at the Department of Post's state-of-the-art Digital Intermediate theatre. Providing the best possible projection on the screen, with the brand new Christie RGB Laser projector and surround sound.
