After 25 years as a lighting designer and DP, 16 years of heading Rosco Laboratories Canada, Tom Swartz has arrived at Rosco Australia to bolster their film and television expertise.
Over roughly the same time Chris Mckenzie of Professional Lighting Services has built an enviable reputation, first as a gaffer, then as a businessman and New Zealand's foremost expert in the new wave of lighting technologies like LEDs and moving lights.
In a great event for NZCS the pair are teaming up to bring us the latest on the rapid advances in lighting technology and the lighting business, and the effect that will have on you.
They will cover the things you need to know about LEDs, like the dawning discovery they are not just 50,000 hours of autopilot for the DP. They will also touch on the next generation of backdrops, new ways to use polarisers and much more.
"I don’t do slides, numbers, photo-metrics and all that. They're too boring," says Swartz. "I'd rather they were critical and ask the hard questions. After all, we need their input."
This combination of overseas and local expertise is too good to miss.
Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
