Lighting Attachment role with Gaffer Scott Harman
on an Auckland-based Feature Film

Portal Productions is looking to place an experienced mid-career Cinematographer to attach to GafferScott Harmanon the production titled "Obsidian" , currently shooting in Auckland.
|
This paid Attachment provides an opportunity to shadow the Gaffer on set and experience advanced aspects of the lighting craft on a big scale production with the latest technologies.
•The two week/10 day placement will commence in Auckland in mid-late June, and actual days on set will be negotiable with the production.
The placement is intended for Auckland region locals or candidates who can relocate themselves and self-accommodate. The selected candidate will be issued a standard contract by the Production Company and will join the payroll, per other contractors.
The aim of the Attachment:
The program aims to provide an opportunity for a mid-career cinematographer to observe a highly experienced Gaffer-mentor on a big budget international production. This program aims to provide another training pathway to the limited opportunities currently available by giving the attachment valuable on-set experience, increased confidence and a renewed skill-set in the world of high quality feature film cinematography. This isnota creative input role, but will be a mentored position, closely shadowing the Gaffer and key technicians at work, and observing the creative decision making process on set.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Have industry experience and a track record of working as mid-career cinematographer on feature films, short films, TV series, TVC's, web series, or other genres. The applicant does nothave to have had an exclusive career as a Director of Photography or Gaffer.
- The applicant must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident to comply with funding requirements.
- The successful applicant must be able to self-drive to the studio or location at varying shoot schedule call-times. No overtime will be paid, so the applicant is only expected to be present for the standard shooting day.
